The mission of Dallas Theological Seminary as a professional, graduate-level school is to glorify God by equipping godly servant-leaders for the proclamation of His Word and the building up of the body of Christ worldwide. The Academic Advisor is responsible for providing tailored academic advising and other related services to students aiding them to make informed decisions about program completion. The academic advisor works to ensure student success and continued enrollment through to graduation.
Job Duties:
  • Know degree requirements for all DTS Masters level programs.
  • Provide detailed advising, degree audits, and course selection assistance for each assigned student considering his/her vocational ministry goals.
  • Maintain posted office hours for scheduled appointments and student drop-in needs.
  • Proactively engage students to facilitate their seminary experience.
  • Review, maintain, and create resources for master’s level degrees as assigned by the Houston campus Academic Advisor.
  • Evaluate individualized program audits for graduating students.
  • Provide input for planning the 3-year Houston course rotation schedule.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Advising.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates godly character, discretion, and confidentiality with sensitive student information.
  • Demonstrates a pastoral heart and ability to provide personal, spiritual, and vocational mentorship.
  • Ability to work independently and think creatively to solve problems.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years related experience
  • DTS graduate or current student (Ministry degree) preferred
