Job Description

The Department of Information & Logistics Technology at the University of Houston (UH) is accepting applications for two tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions in the Computer Information System program to begin in Fall 2023.

We seek colleagues who can contribute to the success and growth of our applied research-oriented program and must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking research agenda that will secure competitive external funding. We welcome applicants with a diversity of research interests that complement those of our current faculty members, foster collaboration, and are relevant to Computer Information Systems such as Cloud Computing, Database Systems and Data Mining, Computer Networking, Artificial Intelligence or Big data and Business Analytics. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.

Candidates should have experience teaching in both face-to-face and 100% online formats at undergraduate and graduate levels. Ideally, candidates will have a demonstrable record of incorporating applied/hands-on learning experiences into their courses. Candidates will demonstrate openness to innovative instructional strategies, a willingness for continuous professional development, and a continuous improvement plan to stay abreast of industry needs in curriculum design and delivery. Teaching expertise in areas such as Systems Analysis and Design, Database Systems, Cloud Computing, Business Analytics, Information Security Management, Information System Software Development, or other Information Systems related topics, is desirable. Rank will be commensurate with the final candidate’s credentials and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work and Teaching experience related to Energy, Transportation/Infrastructure, Port and Border Security, and Health/Medical Fields
  • Five or more years of industry experience associated with the discipline
