About the job

Implements and maintains the Geographic Information System (GIS) to assist FBC in the collection, update, and distribution of geographic (digital) information. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department. Primary administrator for the Engineering and Office of Emergency Management GIS Portals. Acts as GIS point-of-contact for all GIS related requests. Responsible for the management of all GIS applications, apps, surveys and the ArcGIS Extension for WebEOC during emergency activation. Develops interactive GIS mapping websites using ESRIs Flex or other available ESRI API. Coordinates as central contact and administrator for all County departments ESRI software and licenses. Provides supervision and management of the GIS technician, GIS Specialist/GIS activities. Creates thematic maps and GIS data sets for County departments/engineers. Facilitates GIS software training for County department staff and engineering staff. Facilitates GIS data migration/sharing with other departments, throughout County and other agencies. Formulates GIS budget, responsible for software and hardware upgrades. Researches costs and recommends department expenditures for computer equipment. Coordinates with GHC911, FBCAD, USPS, school districts, and area entities to ensure address accuracy. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.REQUIRES:Bachelors Degree in Geography or GIS/Cartography or related field. Four years job related GIS experience. Two years supervisory experience. Strong verbal and written communication, math, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials. Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.SALARY RANGE: Professional Management Grade 14, $2,900.80 – $3,412.00 biweekly based on qualificationsCLOSING DATE: Upon filling positionAll full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
