Summary: The IT Asset Manager collaborates with IT customers to collect and analyze hardware and software asset information to formulate the scope and objectives of end-of-life technology solutions. Ensures that the enterprise’s assets are accounted for, deployed, maintained, and retired (at the appropriate time). The IT Asset Manager leads efforts, oversees work results, provides training, and serves as a technical resource for IT asset management projects of all levels of complexity. This position is responsible for the coordination of efforts across multiple areas and technology platforms and requires a high level of independent work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Tracks IT asset life cycle (procure, deploy, refresh and disposal) of hardware (includes workstations, servers, mobile devices, etc.) and software (includes software tools, cloud infrastructure, etc.) from introduction to retirement, by developing and implementing appropriate procedures to track and manage the assets
- Developing a Software Asset Management program. Managing and maintaining databases and records of information such as licenses, service agreements, and warranties for the organization’s software.
- Manages the administration of IT inventory
- Implements and oversees the Asset Management System
- Develops, plans, and coordinates all the policies and procedures to perform, monitor, and report on the overall ITAM performance.
- Performs all program and project activities to support management of information throughout all phases of the ITAM program.
- Provides guidance and support for the CMDB data consumers and providers
- Analyzes data exports from sources such as Configuration Management Database, etc.
- Provides ongoing development of discovery tool and processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of discovered data as well as managed state data
- Provides input and approval as required into enhancement requests
- Performs verification and audit of the discovery of Configuration Items
- Assists in the creation and ongoing role for operational processes related to discovery and service models.
- Reviews and approves API read/write access requests and other rights access requests
- Reviews various reports, including compliance reports on current assets and CIs and their status; also perform trend analyses. Assist employees to troubleshoot their assets.
- Oversees verification and audit of CMDB content; software assets, hardware assets with actual inventory, and initiates corrective actions
- Responsibilities for the governance concerning the ITAM tools applied in managing, monitoring, reporting on IT assets and inventory, and disposing of assets following ET’s asset management policies.
- Ensures process efficiency and maintains key performance indicators; suggest improvements to the process continuously
- Coordinates asset acquisitions
- As required performs other duties as a back up to maintain operational activities, from time to time, deem necessary.
- Performs research on industry best practice and incorporates it with organizational practices
- Oversees the management and maintenance of databases and records of information such as licenses for the organization’s software and hardware.
Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years or more additional equivalent work experience in IT Asset Management required
- 8+ years of experience required
- Strong technical knowledge of IT software and hardware. Knowledge of asset management best practices
- 8+ years or more experience managing staff
- ITIL Foundations Certified desired
- Experience with IT Service management process (i.e. incident, problem, change, etc.) desired
- Strong knowledge and experience working with a CMDB and the specific business services that it supports
- Demonstrate data analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Must be highly motivated, strong work ethic, self-starter with ability to learn quickly, be able manage multiple tasks independently
- Ability to effectively collaborate with IT customers and to foster strong relationships with them to aid successful project delivery
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for the intended audience. Proficiency in policy formulation and communication to others.
- Experience planning, preparing, coordinating and/or delivering training to users of information management systems preferred.
- Proven leadership abilities, including effective knowledge sharing, conflict resolution, facilitation of open discussions, fairness and displaying appropriate levels of assertiveness and apply constructive feedback to improve performance
- Strong critical thinking skills, offering opinions and a decisive course of action based on an analysis of facts. Final recommendation with excellent follow-through
- Collaborative and team-oriented
- Able to successfully navigate changing environments and perform in a fast-paced setting
- Thorough knowledge of Information Technology fields and computer systems specifically including Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM)
- Surface-level understanding of cybersecurity and financials desired

Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting of standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
