Job Description

The Technology, Leadership, and Innovation Management program (TLIM) at the University of Houston seeks qualified candidates for a full time, tenure-track open rank faculty position. The preferred candidate must possess outstanding academic credentials that clearly demonstrate the ability to conduct independent and successful research in areas related to project and team leadership, organizational behavior/change, management/operations, information systems, and technological innovation. Candidates will also be responsible for teaching courses in the undergraduate level program related to these topics. Rank will be commensurate with the final candidate’s credentials and experience.

The Technology, Leadership, and Innovation Management program also maintains active relationships with industries in the Greater Houston Area such as Energy, Transportation/Infrastructure, Port and Border Security, and Health/Medical Fields, so research expertise and experience in these contexts is preferred Additionally, this candidate will participate in program, department, and college committee assignments and in other activities related to the TLIM program and the rest of the campus. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023.

The College of Technology is the fourth largest college at the University of Houston, and one of the fastest growing. Starting January 2023, the College of Technology will merge with the College of Engineering to bring better outcomes for our students and better opportunities for our faculty/staff to meet our research and service mission.

Following the vision of University of Houston (UH) President Renu Khator, the College of Technology is beginning its journey to Sugar Land. The College of Technology (CoT) building opened at UH at Sugar Land in 2019, featuring state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, and meeting spaces. A recent legislative session approved funding for a second CoT building at UH at Sugar Land. The expectation is that all CoT programs and departments will be at Sugar Land by 2025.

An earned Ph.D. in a related discipline, such as Organizational Behavior, Organizational Psychology, Operations Management, Information Systems, Information Science, Political Science, etc. with a strong teaching background in all aspects of Technology Leadership and Innovation Management.

Preferred Qualifications: Work and Teaching experience related to Energy, Transportation/Infrastructure, Port and Border Security, and Health/Medical Fields Five or more years of industry experience working in project management and business operations
